Our mission at CVSC is to provide relief and support to military veterans who have experienced a variety of challenges upon returning home from active duty. CVSC is primarily dedicated to assisting veterans to integrate back into civilian life. Integrating canines into veterans’ life will provide comfort, companionship, and well-being. Canines provide daily support when navigating the rough and sometimes volatile and hostile reintegration back into domestic life.
Our goals and objectives will be accomplished by raising awareness and funding in support of providing canines to veterans in need. Funding will be secured using local events, for example our annual veteran’s day and marine birthday celebration event. Our mission will also be carried out by securing funds from both private and public sources. Officers or board members are not compensated in any way. All donated funds will directly support our cause and programs, less any expenses in support of our events and operating expenses. Our goal is to provide 85%-90% of our donations to positively impact our veterans lives.
Canines Veterans Support Corporation (CVSC) was officially founded in June 2022. We are a new charitable organization. Our overall plan focuses on selecting specific partners that algin with our mission and objectives. The team has completed our partner assessments. We assessed both local and regional organizations that provide two main functions. First, is establishing the processes that assist us in locating veterans in need of emotional and service-based support canines. In addition, we continue and reach out to the local communities where our veterans work and live. We will also work with the VA (Veterans Administration) who has ample access to veterans in need and leverage VA services that complement our mission. Second, we completed our assessments of local and regional canine support organizations. Based on our assessments, we have decided to support and partner with Warriors Choice Foundation, a locally based organization and K-9 for Warriors, a national leader in Veteran and Canine support. We will focus both on acquiring trained service dogs and the ongoing needs/costs to maintain the service dog. We want to ensure a cohesive and fair process that facilitates veterans ongoing needs. It is key to consider and plan for the wide range of veterans’ needs and ensure we can support them on an ongoing basis. Many veterans are challenged financially and emotionally so these considerations must be incorporated into each veteran’s specific needs. We will accomplish our goals and objectives by partnering and leveraging the two Veteran organizations that we vetted and selected in the last 12 months. We view our mission as ‘complementary’ to what is currently available and believe our greatest impact will be to supplement existing organizations that currently have or are developing those capabilities.
In addition, CVSC has decided to extend our capabilities to directly work with targeted Veterans based on need, urgency, and circumstances where CVSC believes they can add value and provide the Veteran with the needed support.
